Sleeving

High HP builds are the main reason people choose to sleeve their engines. The stock cylinders in each engine can only handle so much. The most common reasons why you would sleeve your engine are:

1) You plan on running a turbo that would produce 20 psi or more.

2) To increase displacement whether you're running a turbo or not.

3) To bring an engine back to life that has cracked cylinders, severely scored cylinder walls due to piston slap or a dropped valve.

Here at Golden Eagle Manufacturing we will provide you with a sleeve that is actually a whole new cylinder guaranteed not to sink or crack. Long gone are the days of cracked OEM cylinders and oscillating or sinking sleeves or liners from other companies. We have worked for decades to be able to give you a product that allows you to achieve your power goals with dependability in mind. Basic Sleeving turn-around time is usually 6-8 weeks. Our sleeves are actually new cylinders made and installed always in-house from raw material so we can control the quality of the final product from start to finish. FINAL BORE AND HONE

In the Final Cylinder Bore and Hone Service, we put the finishing touches on the Sleeving Process. Once an engine goes on the Final Bore and Hone machine, the process begins with diamond hone stone selections in progressive stages to acquire the desired plateau hone dimension and finish. Typical honing leaves a series of microscopic peaks and valleysin a cylinder. The valleys created during honing act as oil reservoirs to provide lubrication when the engine is running. The peaks, on the other hand, are worn off by the piston rings as the engine is broken in – thus leaving a plateaued surface above the valleys.

PLEASE NOTE:

The Final Bore and Hone Service is not included with the Sleeve Install. Instead, when we perform a "Sleeve-Only" job, we rough-cut each cylinder under the final bore size from 0.007 to 0.010 thousandths of an inch under the desired bore size to allow for Final Bore and Hone service to be done at a later time.

Align Hone

Customers often ask, "What exactly is the Align Bore service?"

We perform the Align Bore service to restore trueness and OEM spec clearances to an engine's crankshaft-bearing bores. Simply put, this is where the crankshaft spins and a proper clearance in unison is key to bearing life. You will need to have the Align Bore service done if your engine has been over heated or you are upgrading main studs which require a higher torque spec than factory specs. If you have any questions we would be more than happy to help you decide if this process suits your particular build.
