Why Sleeve Your Engine?

High-horsepower builds are the primary reason enthusiasts choose to sleeve their engines. Factory cylinders can only withstand a certain amount of power and cylinder pressure before reliability becomes a concern.

The most common reasons for sleeving an engine include:

  1. High-Boost Applications – You plan to run a turbocharger producing 20+ PSI of boost.
  2. Increased Displacement – You want to increase engine displacement, whether naturally aspirated or turbocharged.
  3. Block Restoration – Your engine has cracked cylinders, severely damaged cylinder walls, piston slap damage, or valve-related cylinder damage.

The Golden Eagle Difference

At Golden Eagle Manufacturing, our sleeves are not simply liners—they are complete replacement cylinders engineered for maximum strength and durability. Our design is guaranteed against sinking and cracking, eliminating the common issues associated with OEM cylinders and inferior sleeve systems.

For decades, we have refined our sleeving process to deliver a product that enables customers to achieve their horsepower goals without compromising reliability. Every sleeve is manufactured and installed in-house from raw material, allowing us to maintain strict quality control throughout the entire process.

Typical turnaround time for basic sleeving services is 6–8 weeks.

Proudly Made in the USA

All Golden Eagle sleeves are designed, manufactured, and installed in the USA.

When it comes to aftermarket sleeving, the open-deck Honda/Acura K20Z (like the K20Z3) or K24Z blocks are **highlyundesirable.
The specific reasons why they are not ideal for re-sleeving:
  • Thin Casting & Core Shift: The K20Z series castings are infamous for being thinner around the cylinder walls, specifically near the #3 cylinder outer water jacket, due to core shifting during the manufacturing process.
  • Boring Limitations: We here at Golden Eagle Mfg. have found that boring these blocks out to accept our aftermarket ductile-iron wet sleeves pushes the structural integrity of the aluminum block to its absolute limit, greatly increasing the risk of cracking or coolant jacket failure. For those reasons we reframe from sleeving the K20Z engines.
  • Better Alternatives: If you are building a high-horsepower K-series (often past the 500+ WHP mark requiring aftermarket sleeves), We strongly recommend sourcing an older, closed-deck or semi-closed-deck block (like the K20A2 from the RSX Type-S or a K24A2).
